When Should You Post Videos on YouTube?

It’s critical to know when to upload your movie on YouTube since it’s the most widely used video platform today, whether it’s for video fans, amateurs, small companies, or big corporations.

YouTube is clearly a rich arena for material and a huge potential audience for firms trying to enhance their video marketing. Even yet, there’s more to becoming a YouTube success than just uploading videos to your company’s channel.

The purpose of YouTube, like other social media, is interaction, and to reach your customers, you must know not only what to put in your videos (learn about how to structure your YouTube video here), but also when is the optimum time to upload your YouTube video on your channel?

This post discusses a few metrics to help you find the optimal time frame for posting your content on YouTube.

Find the Best Time & Day to Post Videos on YouTube

According to a recent survey by the New York-based multi-channel network Frederator, viewership on the site peaks on weekday nights.

Posting on a weekday afternoon provides YouTube plenty of time to index and distribute videos to subscriber feeds, which helps increase video visibility. If you’d like to publish on Monday through Wednesday, Frederator recommends doing so between 2 and 4 p.m. (Except otherwise noted, all timings are Eastern Standard Time.)

Weekends, on the other hand, are for those who wake up early. According to the findings of the research, the best time to publish on Saturday and Sunday is between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., when Frederator receives 120 million monthly views from 1,300 channels.

Thursday and Friday are the finest days of the week to publish. For this reason, the peak viewing day on YouTube is usually on a Saturday, and the thorough viewing day is usually on a Sunday afternoon.

It follows that May and September are the worst months of the year for uploading videos since these are the months when the bulk of YouTubers are either ending or beginning their school, sports seasons, vacations, or engaging in many outdoor activities.

However, the size of the audience isn’t the only thing to consider for YouTubers. Fluctuating ad prices throughout the year is also quite important. Partners with YouTube get paid a percentage of ad sales based on a CPM (cost per thousand views) they choose.

According to CPM data, prices reached their highest point in mid-to-late March, remained steady from then until the end of June, increased gradually from then until September, and then grew significantly for the remainder of each month in both October and November.

Why Should You Post Videos Before the Peak Time?

Publication at periods of high traffic may be counterproductive since it would put you in direct competition with other channels. The best time to publish your films may be several hours before or after the busiest period of the day.

Even so, it should only be seen as a launching place. While it may be tempting to submit videos at the busiest hours of the day when you have a competent YouTube video editor at your disposal, this is a bad idea for three reasons:

  • Give YouTube some time to index and evaluate the video before making it more widely available.
  • You should make the most of the exposure you have before going live.
  • If you upload your video at a certain time, it may not have much of an impact on its success in the short term. The first two hours after uploading a video to our YouTube account are critical, according to our experience.

This is the time of day when most people are watching your videos. To establish a suitable build-up until your channel receives the greatest traffic throughout the day, you should publish them up to two hours before peak time.

Post More than One Video During the Week

Your most popular video should be published when your most active viewers are browsing YouTube, and then you should plan your other films around it so that they all appear at the same time as your most popular video.

Try to avoid posting 2–3 movies in a row if you plan to do so often. Examine the results from days that aren’t immediately next to the busiest. Let’s assume your greatest day is Friday, and your second best day is Thursday. Videos posted on both days will likely overshadow and underperform those posted on the other day.

Don’t Worry too Much About the Upload Timings

At first, the time it takes to upload your films on YouTube has little bearing on how well they do. To drive traffic to your films, you may have to use a combination of your network and third-party sources.

Be less concerned with the publication date and more concerned with producing high-quality material and developing your channel’s expertise in a certain area. Before making your film available to the general public, you may want to unlist it and collect some social proof for it before you decide to publish it again.

Wrapping Up

Not only should you post when it’s convenient for your audience, but your material should be of high quality and relevant to them. For YouTube viewers, “personal relevance” is critical. Creating an eye-catching thumbnail is also critical if you want viewers to go through your video and watch it.

As the YouTube algorithm learns more about your films, it will show them to more people. A controlled and proactive strategy, on the other hand, will ensure that you take advantage of the large number of eyes on your films and improve customer interaction.
